Workshop

Temporality, Narrativity, and the Anthropocene

Workshop "New Developments in Theory" with Prof. Elana Gomel (Tel Aviv University)

The first part of this workshop led by Prof. Gomel serves as a forum to discuss her recent work on the relation of time and narrative in our Anthropocene moment, with a particular emphasis on what she and her co-author Vered Karti Shemtov call limbotopia (in distinction to utopia and dystopia). In order to facilitate discussion, participants will read their recently published article on the topic and chapter two of Frank Kermode’s classic The Sense of an Ending prior to the meeting.

The second part of the workshop is dedicated to the participants’ research projects: Participants will have the opportunity briefly to introduce their current research project in order to receive feedback from both Prof. Gomel and their peers.

The workshop is complemented with two guest lectures by Prof. Elana Gomel and Prof. Marco Caracciolo on the following day (see separate announcement).
