Ella Imgrüth Receives Start-up Grant
The Doctoral Program in Literary Studies supports the German and Anglophone literary scholar Ella Imgrüth with a start-up grant.
Ella Imgrüth's dissertation project "On the Poetics of Affect in the Adventure Novel (1719–1926)" investigates the affective potential of the adventure and asks to what extent the adventure novel as a genre of the extraordinary evokes, negotiates, and copes with affective states. The aim is to think a poetics of the adventure novel from the point of view of affect.
Ella studied German and English language and literature in Basel and completed her MA degree in Literary Studies in 2022. From 2018 to 2022, she was an auxiliary researcher with Prof. Dr. Nicola Gess in the SNF-Sinergia project "The Power of Wonder".
