DPL graduate Seydou Konate has published his monograph L'Humain, la nature, les enjeux et défis écologiques. Étude écocritique de la littérature jeunesse de Côte d'Ivoire (Entremises Éditions). The study asks how Ivorian children's and young adult literature depicts nature, animals and ecosystems – and what role it plays in shaping young readers' environmental awareness. Drawing on approaches from ecocriticism, geocriticism and animal studies, Konate opens up a corpus that has so far received little scholarly attention and shows how closely the representation of nature, cultural identity and ecological education are interwoven in the children's and young adult literature of Côte d'Ivoire – a pioneering study of the environmental literature of sub-Saharan Africa.
We congratulate Seydou on the publication of his dissertation!
