Notes on the master's thesis and the master's examinations in the MSG Language and Communication

Please contact your preferred supervisors and examiners in good time and find out about exam preparation and the exam procedure in good time.

Please refer to the checklist for the master's thesis and examinations in the master's degree program in Language and Communication.

You can find an up-to-date overview of possible supervisors for the master's thesis and examiners for master's examinations from the various subject areas here on the left.

The subject areas and spokespersons for which the respective lecturers are available are also listed there, giving you a good overview of who is available for possible co-supervision in the respective subject area.

Please note:

At least one of the supervisors (supervisor or second examiner) of your MA thesis must hold a professorship in linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of Basel. All lecturers on the list can be selected as examiners. Professors are generally always available to supervise MA theses and take MA examinations; other lecturers can only accept a limited number of candidates.

The Student Advisory Service also offers specific advisory appointments on the subject of 'Master's theses' and 'Master's examinations'. You can book these via the Phil app. The appointments can be made both via Zoom and in person (as far as the current DSLW security concept allows).
