"Methodological Observations from the Anton Webern Edition Project"

Vortrag von Stefan Münnich im Rahmen des Workshops „Digital Research in Old Norse Studies: Data Management and Infrastructure Needs“ (5.-8. Oktober 2022).

The Anton Webern Gesamtausgabe at the University of Basel, CH, is a hybrid musicological edition project. It has the aim of researching and testing the scientific application of graph- based semantic models, in terms of RDF vocabularies, for the purpose of a digital music edition. This ongoing research process is supported both by technological infrastructure provided and developed at the Digital Humanities Lab Basel (DHLab) and the Swiss National Data & Service Center for the Humanities (DaSCH), but also by project-specific solutions to data representation and visualization. The proposed talk aims to discuss challenges and obstacles in regard to human-readable vs. machine-readable data, presentation vs. representation of data, and short-term project needs vs. long-term sustainability goals, and thus tries to open up lines for methodological reflections in a more broader context of DH research and projects.
