The Department of Languages and Literatures compiles here current information on the guidelines and measures of the University of Basel for dealing with the spread of the coronavirus. As a matter of principle, please also always refer to the information provided by the university on the coronavirus.
On February 17, 2022, the university management communicated the following decisions regarding the previous Covid-19 protective measures:
Lifting of the mask obligation with immediate effect
The university has lifted the obligation to wear masks for all students and employees of the university with immediate effect. At the same time, it recommends wearing a mask (ideally FFP2 mask) to protect against infection.
Employees at particular risk are asked to discuss their work situation with their supervisors. DSLW students at particular risk are asked to contact the Dean of Students Office of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Mandatory reporting of Covid-19 test results.
As of now, there is no requirement to report positive Covid-19 test results. However, individuals with a positive Covid-19 test result must continue to be in isolation for a minimum of 5 days.
Repeal of Covid-19 certificate requirement effective Feb. 21, 2022.
The university has rescinded the Covid certificate requirement for courses beginning Feb. 21, 2022. This also affects the Covid certificate requirement for university employees.
Building access as of Feb. 21, 2022
Building access will once again be available to outside individuals as of Feb. 21, 2022.
Learning and teaching rooms, libraries, lounges, and cafeterias
Learning and teaching rooms, libraries, lounge areas, and cafeterias can once again be used without restrictions in accordance with university regulations.
Protection concepts for teaching and research
Covid-19 protection concepts are no longer required for teaching and research operations.
Aperitifs
From now on, aperitifs may again be held on university premises.
Use of rooms for external events
The use of rooms for external events is not possible until further notice.
